Constructing the tile rosette:
First step was to cut small sheets of veneer to form stacks for each vertical line of the design and glue them together. ( I changed the original design and made it 7 rows wide x 9 rows deep). I used a small roller to apply a thin, even layer of glue on the veneer. Then simply clamped them between two blocks of wood.

Then 1mm strips were cut off (on the bandsaw) that could be glued together to form the design.
Three of the strips are mirror images with the centre strip being different.

Once glued up to form the tile log, tiles were cut off and shaped to fit the rosette diameter, using shaped sanding blocks.
Handmade matching purflings were made to form inner and outer lines to encase the tiles.
