Completed in March 2014, this concert uke was made primarily from vegetable crates, (a combination of thin Alder and lightweight plywood).
with the addition of Indian Rosewood for the fingerboard/bridge. (15" scale length). TruOil hand rubbed finish.
Due to the incredibly lightweight, low density of the crate wood, the ukulele had a very bright sound. This increase in treble created a reduction in the bass notes
but, overall, it was an interesting project and I have plans to make more in the future, with bass enhancing modifications.

The raw materials - several crates were carefully dismantled to provide the top, back, sides and neck wood (laminated neck black)
Oak veneer was laminated to the sides to strengthen them, and increased spruce bracing on the top and back were used to provide greater overall stiffness.
The top incorporates a 25ft radius across the lower bout (for strength and stiffness) and the back has an 8ft radius across it's entire area.
