Began the process of planing the top and back plates to final thickness. They will eventually be shaped using radius dishes and bracing but, to to begin with,
I roughly plane them by hand to approx 2.5mm thick. Every piece of wood is different but what I'm looking for is good flexibility across and, against the grain, this determines the final thickness. Generally, as thin as you dare (but not too thin) .... experience and knowledge of different woods helps with this.

A little more progress ..
The sides have been roughly profiled for the back radius
The top and back plates are now close to final thickness.
Quartersawn spruce bracing blanks prepared. I just need to make up a bridge plate and, centre join strip for the back plate before profiling them.

Stored in my Go-bar decks to keep their shape whilst awaiting further work ..
Some items I found under the counter during demolition. I plan to incorporate them in the build :)
Gluing the neck and tail blocks.
The neck block is Mahogany to provide a strong joint and, accommodate the barrel bolt that will eventually attach the neck.
The tail block is birch ply to reduce weight.
